"If the situation continues like this, we will feel anxious to work, sir. The problem is that the community insists on the company to stop forest encroachment activities in the village of Dukuh Sati," said one of the field assistants in a gray uniform. "Maybe we should just stop encroaching on the land they protect, because that's the only land they care about."
"That thousand hectares of land ?! You think how much money you have to be able to replace the money that I have spent to take care of that land clearing permit ?!" Doni's eyes glared sharply at the employee who made a suggestion. "I just ask for half of it from you, I finished processing the permit for 2.5 billion. That's the total for processing the permit, as well as the cost of land acquisition, plus thickening the pockets of the government officials concerned so that business runs smoothly!" he said.
Everyone in the room fell silent.
Lusia elbowed Rina's arm. "Is he always that grumpy, Rin?" he hissed.
Rina grinned. "Always, especially when there are employees who don't agree with them."
Lusia took a deep breath. "Wow, it seems I also have to always argue with him so that I can quickly leave this company ..." said Lusia with an annoyed face.
"Give it a try! But he won't let you go easily!" said Rina with a smile.
Soon, the meeting will be closed, but there will be a follow-up meeting with a number of selected employees tonight, and Lusia and Rina are some of them.
Lusia grumbled when they arrived at the dormitory of the single female employee.
Doni, although the leader of the company is a little fierce, he is very concerned about the welfare of his employees. He always prioritizes the comfort of the residence for company office employees. For the workers alone, he provides a special barracks that are neatly built with complete facilities inside. In addition, employees are also given great incentives.
"I've been told to join the meeting just now! What position am I in? Important? I'm just an ordinary administrative staff!" he grumbled.
At that time they were in one room with an exclusive design. Just took a shower and changed their company uniforms that they wear all day.
Not long after they were talking, there was a knock on the door to the room. Lusia snorted in annoyance. "At best, the security guard told us to attend the meeting! Wait ... I want to spray him first as an outlet for my annoyance ..." said Lusia as she moved to the door to open it.
Bruk! Open door.
"If you tap the woman's room slowly! We are more active ..." Lusia's scolding stopped when she saw who was standing behind the door.
A handsome young man who had sat next to Pak Doni during a meeting at the office earlier.
The girl immediately grinned. "Eh, you ... yes, can we help you ...?" Lusia suddenly became embarrassed and nervous.
Rina sounded giggling. Lusia glared in annoyance at her friend's cute black girl.
"Uncle Doni is waiting in the meeting hall at the front ..." said the young man in a flat voice. His eyes looked directly into Lusia's, but there was no smile on his lips.
Hm, pretentious authority! Thought Lusia.
"Yes, sir. We'll be there soon. Thank you for the information," replied Lusia pretentiously.
"Not information. But this is an order," said the young man quickly, then he immediately walked away from Lusia's face.
After the young man's death, Lusia snorted in annoyance. "How high was his GPA in college ?! Luckily he left quickly! Just a little slow and my shoes flew to his forehead! Powerful and smart! Even though being a company official is just because of nepotism!" suddenly Lusia channeled her frustration to Rina.
"You're menstruating right, Lus? How sensible ..." Rina laughed on her bed seeing Lusia's eyes that had been tearing up since earlier. "Besides, there is no such thing as nepotism in private companies, ha ha ha!"
But a few moments later Lusia and Rina were already present at the company's internal meeting hall. The hall was deliberately built for the purposes of a limited meeting between company officials.
And Lusia was actually not so sincere about being present in the room, she hoped that the meeting would end quickly because the problem of persecution was not her field.
Moreover, there is that young man again!
So handsome! So cold! Sok authoritative! So powerful!
And the girl was completely stunned when the leader of the company made her sit next to her proud nephew! Only six people were told to attend the meeting. Apart from the leadership, there was the handsome young man whom Lusia immediately hated in the shortest possible time, the head of security, Rina and himself, and a field manager.
"Okay, just a brief meeting, there are only two things I want to convey to you. First, I will form a new division in the company, namely the public relations division led by Hendra's brother ..." Pak Doni patted the handsome young man on the shoulder.
Lusia slightly turned her face away as the young man smiled at her.
"I also gave a new position to our new employee, Lusia, to take the position of deputy head of the public relations division for community development," said Pak Doni, who immediately made the girl widen her eyes in disbelief. "This position replaces Mrs. Dina's previous official because she resigned due to illness," said the leader again.
Rina pinched Lusia who still looked dumbfounded. "You are really lucky Lus! Got a high position just came to work! Your fate is the same as his nephew who you hate ..." whispered Rina as if teasing the girl.
"Isn't a salary of fifteen million a month enough ...?" Asked Mr. Doni to Lusia which made the girl gasp for the second time.
"Enough!" it was Rina who shouted loudly enough while clapping her hands.
"Rina should be the one who got the position because she worked here longer ..." interrupted Lusia feeling bad about her friend who had put her to work at the company.
Mr. Doni smiled. "I did not give Rina any position, because I wanted her to finish college first, she is also here to work only to fill vacancies. She is also my nephew, and she gets a share of shares in this company," said Mr. this time it really shocked Lusia as if she had been electrocuted.
His face immediately looked excited when he looked at Rina, who only grinned at her surprise.
"So ... you are also Mr. Doni's nephew ??! Why didn't you tell me from yesterday ?? !!" Lusia half screamed when she said that. He almost hit his friend's back in shock.
Mr. Doni immediately laughed.
"Never mind! Rina to be my nephew is destiny! She can't refuse her good fortune ...!" said Mr. Doni, continuing to laugh.
"Not going too far, I want to convey our next plan regarding land disputes between the community and the company," said Pak Doni.
And this time the conversation was a little tense. And Lusia just found out that the problem the residents had with the company was related to sacred land that was protected by the residents that the company wanted to encroach on for land expansion.
"There is a myth that has developed in the community from generation to generation that the land is forbidden to enter because it has a hidden curse," said Pak Doni. "I want the public to change their views on the myth of the sacred land, it's just nonsense! Maybe by means of a method of proof so that people don't make a fuss about it anymore," said Pak Doni. "Brother Hendra, this is your job. Any suggestions?"
"The first step, Om. I will enter the land that is sacred to the residents and take documentation of what we saw. This documentation is what we will show the residents that the forest is nothing, apart from birds and monkeys!" said Hendra, who was immediately greeted with laughter by the meeting participants who attended.
"Okay, good suggestion, I will budget for the costs, and you will also be accompanied by your representative, Lusia to enter the sacred forest ... my meeting is closed ...!"
Lusia stared.
Enter the forbidden forest?
Are you alone with your nephew ???
But Lusia could not refuse when the next morning she was sitting next to Hendra on the motor boat that would take them along the river to the forest that was sacred to the people.
At that time the company's motorboat was driven by a skinny motorist named Martinus. And now it is sliding across the river that crosses the jungle jungle of Borneo.
"Have you been working with Uncle Doni for a long time?" asked Hendra on the way. Since earlier, Lusia had been seen as silent.
"Just one week," replied Lusia curtly.
Hendra laughed. "Apparently your career has taken off. Usually Uncle Doni is selective in placing employees. That means you are considered a potential for the company," said Hendra again.
For the first time Lusia smiled at Hendra since they met. Turns out the boss's nephew isn't as annoying as I thought, Lusia thought.
"Are you sure that the forests that are being saved by the people are just bullshit, Hen?" asked Lusia as the motor boat hurtled across the river. Passing through a forest area that is increasingly dense and natural. Now there are none of the residents' houses on the river bank that they can see.
"Eighty percent, yes. Logically I don't believe it. But the remaining twenty percent I doubt it," replied Hendra.
"You mean, Hen?" Lusia furrowed her brows.
"Twenty percent I think that people's trust has a reason," said Hendra again.
Lusia was stunned.
"Sorry, this is just my personal opinion. But residents cannot defend themselves to the point of even dealing with all their lives if there is nothing in the forest ..." added Hendra.
Not long after, the motor boat entered a creek, where the scenery around the forest was getting dense, even more creepy because there was not a single sign of human life in that place.
"We have arrived at the forbidden forest," said Martinus the motorist, then slowed the speed of the motor boat, and a few moments later the water vehicle actually stopped. Near a very large tree, but there is a strange marker, in the form of a yellow cloth wrapped around the base, as well as a miniature house underneath which has a red cloth flag.
"It is a boundary marker for the area that cannot be entered by anyone, and this area has not been touched for hundreds of years," said Martinus again.
Lusia and Hendra were stunned.
"Are you serious?" asked Hendra.
"I am also a villager here, Pak Hendra, so I know everything," said the thin young man in a black jacket, smiling. "If you want to go in there please, I'm just waiting here just in case ..." he said.
Lusia began to hesitate and was a little afraid, but she complied when Hendra pulled her hand into the forest area.
The forest was quiet, but the atmosphere was pleasant and calm. Make Lusia happy and less afraid anymore.
"It turns out that the forbidden forest is not as scary as what people describe it, Hen. Maybe Pak Doni is right to say that the myth is just fabrication," said Lusia as they entered the forest further.
But a few moments later Lusia's steps stopped. His eyes stared at something under the big tree. The something looked at them with its clear eyeball. Something that had been busy eating grass.
"Jeez ... a huge deer ... I've never seen this animal in my life ..." hissed Lusia.
Hendra looked at the deer with a worried look. "Be careful, Lus! Even though the animal is not a predator, it could attack humans if it feels disturbed," whispered Hendra when he saw Lusia slowly pulling out her cellphone intending to take a photo of the animal.
Slowly Lusia approached, the animal did not flinch and just stared at him.
"Lus ... don't get too close ...!" Hendra warned that he was worried when he saw Lusia's position very close to the big fat deer. He also wondered why there were non-aggressive animals in the middle of the wild forest.
Lusia did not care, he took several photos when the animal started to stand up and continued to stare at him. "Shhh ... don't go ... I'll take your photo for my i********:! Eh, you will become famous later ... Shhh don't go ..." Lusia kept coming.
Hendra is getting more and more worried, he also approaches Lusia, just in case the animal attacks the beautiful girl. "Stupid girl ... I warned you ..." hissed Hendra, full of anxiety.
But Lusia didn't care, and the tawny deer just kept quiet as Lusia got closer.
"Beautiful animal ... you shut up ..." Lusia kept coming closer curiously, now he was only one meter away from the deer position. Its branched horns seemed to move as it tilted its head to stare hilariously at Lusia.
Once again ... check! Check! Lusia took the photo.
The girl's behavior was getting crazy. He approached the deer and reached out his hand to try to touch the deer neck.
Hendra sighed in despair. "If you die I can't take you home, I'll leave your corpse here ..." said Hendra with a grim tone. But he was also curious to see that the deer did not react when Lusia touched it. He looked in disbelief.
"Hen ...! He's tame ...!" Lusia screamed with joy. He hopped beside the deer. He is even now starting to have the courage to take selfies next to the deer.
Hendra gaped. But he still found it hard to believe that the animal was tame and could even be touched.
"Hen ...! I'll just take this deer home ...!" Lusia is now in a position to hug the deer.
Hendra smiled wryly. He began photographing Lusia in various poses with the deer.
Suddenly the deer moved slowly and walked into the forest.
"Hey, hey! Where are you going ?! Don't go, Bambang!" Lusia screamed while pulling the deer tail. Hendra smiled at Lusia's childish behavior. But he decided to just go into the forest to see further evidence. "Never mind. Just follow him," he said as he walked following Lusia deeper into the forest.
