**************** Part of the Morningstar series ******************Years and years of working for the Morningstar family, and I couldn't be happier. Missions are my life. Same with my bestie, Nix. We were born to fight, to protect. It's in our blood.Of course, me being me, I'm extreme in everything, including my strong drive to protect others. It's gotten me into a bit of trouble my entire life. I never cared though. I always managed to make things work. The Morningstar's are people who I look up to. Especially Kee. Pops and I are particularly close too. Although, he thinks I'm irritating most of the time, but he still loves me like another grandchild. That was why I was so happy that I could help him. I could give the Devil a happy ending. A well-deserved one. Even if it meant helping to kick him off his throne. I thought he'd hate me forever. However, all the happy endings in all the realms couldn't save me from the trouble I got into this time. I really dug myself deep with the Dark Mother. I made an enemy of her, and now all the Gods know that I'm doomed. Doomed because of the stipulations they forced on me. With my power so uncontrollable... How am I supposed to defeat her?Answer: I can't.So, I ran away. Just to buy myself some time. Well, actually, it wasn't a choice either Nix or I had. It was forced on us. As usual. We were sent to another realm; a realm called Qayta. A realm that no one ever visits. The only people who are allowed to go there, are other Gods, if, and only if, they are invited. Outsiders are not allowed.Imagine our surprise with Posey (Poseidon, the water God) got us invites. Not only invites, but protection too. Apparently the two Gods that look over that realm agreed to allow Nix and I to hide out there. Guess they aren't scared of the Dark Mother coming for me.Though, they ended seeming like normal guys, the one God was a total creep. I keep catching him staring at me, and he keeps cornering me, and my Gods... I think I might like it.I hate that this stupid, unbelievably gorgeous man is making me question waiting for my mate. He won't win me over. No way. No how. Absolutely... not!*********************************************************Bex really did it this time. She really dug us deep. Granted, it was deserved. I don't blame her. Hell, I would have done the same thing. Of course, I could never defeat a God like Bexley can. I'm just a Fae and a Werewolf. I might have power of my own thanks to some ancient something or other, but I couldn't kill a God.My best friend needs to stop taking so much on. I fear that she's going to get weighed down. She needs her mate. Or a break at the very least. That was why I reached out to Poseidon. I know he has a thing for Bex even if he won't admit it to himself. I told him what had happened with the Dark Mother and all her threats. They pretended like they already knew somehow. Bex assumed it was Kee. I wasn't expecting them to say what they did though. I just thought that they would hide us until the Dark Mother calmed down. I get why they did it, but it wasn't fair. Bexley has never done anything for power. She does everything to save everyone else. They treated her like some power-hungry Demi-God who was getting a bit too bold for their liking. If Bex ever finds out I'm the one who told them... she'll hate me.So, I kept it to myself. It killed me, but I did it anyway. I went to Qayta with Bex. I smiled, I laughed, I acted like nothing was eating me up on the inside. Bexley didn't notice anything off with me, but I was thankful for that. However, I was also pretty distracted myself. With several things. One being that I was trying to figure out what ancient power was inside me. Two, I wanted to figure out how to help Bexley with the dark energy she struggles to control. Three... I had unexpectedly met my mate. And I had no idea if he wanted me or not.As sh.itty as things are turning out to be... I'm just glad we have somewhere to hide out at. We need to come up with a plan for the Dark Mother. She's not going to stop until she absolutely destroys Bexley, and I can't let that happen. So, I'll just bide my time. I'll hide out here. I'll gather as much information as I can. I'll try to form a plan. All before taking it to Bexley. She deserves a break, and I know two particular Gods that seem to have all of her attention lately. The Dark Mother is the most formidable foe though. She's the oldest God in existence. She's powerful and ruthless. And I fear that not even with the Morningstars' help will we be able to defeat her.But I have to try. For Bexley. For the girl who saved me, even though it cost her, her soul.*******************************************************Read all about Bexley and Nix's adventures!
